Nestled between 2 river valleys in Southcentral Alaska, the Chugiak - Eagle River area is surrounded by gorgeous Alaska wilderness. Just to give you an idea of this wilderness, I had a mother moose with her 2 babies & a black bear & a rabbit in my yard at the same time!! I would love to tell you the story sometime but it was wonderful and highly unusual.
Eagle River is a very quick commute to Anchorage, military bases and just about any type of service you may need. The area is a little removed from the hustle and bustle of Anchorage as Eagle River has a more rural small town atmosphere, great neighborhoods and subdivisions tucked away in the trees. Yes, we have a Starbucks and Jitters is also a favored local coffee haunt! One end of town is anchored by a Wal-Mart Superstore and the other by Fred Meyers, a couple motels, many gifty, artsy little shops, a very active Chamber of Commerce, a movie theatre, all the fast food you'll ever need (McDonalds, Arby's, Subway, Pizza Hut, Pizza Man, Carl's Jr, Taco Bell, New China etc.), a movie theater, a bowling alley, Knik Little League, outstanding schools and a huge slate of activities (from judo and dance to cheerleading and hockey there is a lot of community participation and so many things to chose from).
Anyone moving to the area should consider purchasing Eagle River real estate first. Drive through our many subdivisions, check out our area schools and more than anything just compare your driving times if you will be working in Anchorage or on base - the commute is so easy usually around 15 minutes - its a piece of cake!
